Festival of the Grape 2018
Oliver’s Festival of the Grape is an event put on by the Oliver Tourism Association with the help of many volunteers. The Festival of the Grape is a very popular annual event, attracting an estimated 3,500 attendees who come to taste the various wines that are on display, enjoy the music played on the grandstand, and either compete in, or watch competitors in the Grape Stomp. In addition to the wine tasting, music listening, and grape stomping, local artisans also display their crafts in the Art Gallery.
The Festival of the Grape begins with a Parade where participants honour the various wineries in attendance with banners hoisted high. After the grape festival parade, there is a short speech by the mayor, then Bacchus announces that the grape festival is to begin.
Visitors cheer and then start off to visit the booths of various wineries in the large tents, listen to the feature band, or visit the trade vendor booths. As the Festival of the Grape continues, visitors can go on an art walk and view the presentation of arts and crafts on display at the Art Gallery. The Festival of the Grape is an event for the whole family, as there is a family area with face painting, activity stations and lots of entertainment for the kids with games, balloons.
If you are planning on attending the Festival of the Grape in Oliver, arrive early for the best parking.
Throughout the day, Bacchus calls for the Grape Stomp competitors to prepare for their event. The Grape Stomp is certainly a feature attraction as the competitors are cheered on from the audience who gathered to watch the event. Squish me, stomp me, make me wine! That is what a grape stomp competition is all about! Are you interested in entering a team? Register fast as there is limited space! This year we are opening the event to 24 grape stomping teams!

The Festival of the Grape is an event for the whole family, as there is a Kids Zone with activity stations and entertainment. Bouncy castles, games, face painting, obstacle courses and more. This area is not just for the little kids, its for the big kids too! Show off to your children you potato sack skills and challenge them to a race or have a game of giant snakes a ladders.
To give you a taste of what the music was like. check out the fantastic band we had last year. We are working on finding the band for 2018 and announce it once everything is finalized. Check back in the spring.
MAZACOTE is a hard-hitting west coast latin dance band, playing horn-driven New York salsa dura and beats from Colombia, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico.
Their new album NUEVA ERA on TrebleFive Records, featuring the singles "Carita Bella" and "La Hora," was recently nominated as World Album of the Year at the 2016 WCM Awards.
Based out of Vancouver, Canada, the band features the captivating voice of Nicaraguan singer-songwriter David Lopez, and a groove-heavy band featuring Chris Couto on timbales, Carlos Arias on bass, Robin Layne on congas, Malcolm Aiken on trumpet and Niho Takase on piano.
On stage since 2008, Mazacote performs across the globe at music festivals and dance clubs, bringing their world dance party vibes to audiences of all ages! Recent highlights include headlining the Vancouver International Salsa Festival with New York latin jazz trombone legend Jimmy Bosch, as well as mainstage appearances at the Harmony Arts Festival, the Carnaval del Sol, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Winterruption Arts and Culture Festival and the Global Music Festival.
